Your dog is indeed your best friend, how many people (outside of your Mother) love you unconditionally and just want to please you?
Okay, so your pal can behave in a fashion that is irritating to you, this will be a whole lot easier to correct than any person’s annoying habits. Patience, repetition and consistency are the keys here; so if you are easily upset with canine behavior and you don’t possess the three qualities mentioned, DON’T OWN A PET.
There is an unbelievable amount of companionship and delight that comes from owning a dog. This enjoyable co-op can be furthered developed by turning non welcomed behavior into different pleasant behavior. For example a DOG JUMPING ON YOU is not a good thing. To a dog, a greeting is a greeting, and is no reason to stop jumping – at least, not voluntarily. You’ll need to take matters into your own hands, and make it perfectly clear to your dog that jumping is no longer an option. Turning the jumper in a tail wagging “puppy dancer” is quite an amusing event to behold.
The same is pretty much true about all corrective dog behavior, you can channel that behavior into something different and enjoyable.
